Thermopylae Games Tomorrow - Crossing Park

A reminder that the Thermopylae Games - Crossing Park is tomorrow from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.  4:00pm - 4:30pm is warm up with the competition running from 4:30pm - 6:00pm.
Crossing Park is located at: 500 Martindale Blvd NE, Calgary, AB T3J 4W8
Competitors are reminded to come prepared to be active and to bring plenty of water and a healthy snack.  There is plenty of time between exercises to recharge, stretch, grab a drink, etc.
Parents/guardians are welcome to spectate but are asked to stay well away from the competing athletes.
Competitors must sign out before leaving the competition, with one of the coaches, and must leave with a parent and/or guardian.

Thermopylae Games - Crossing Park - The Exercises are here!!!!

The exercises for the Thermopylae Games on March 21 at Crossing Park School are here!!
1) Burpees - without a push up - starting in a standing position, hands to the floor in a crouch, jump the feet out, jump the feet in and a jump with... feet leaving the floor and arms straight up so that the elbows are by the ears = 1 count
2) Russian Twists - with a basketball - holding a basketball in both hands, sitting in a "V" position with feet off the floor, touch the basket ball to the floor, alternating on each side of the body. Each time the ball touches the floor it is a count.  Feet must remain off the floor, ball held in both hands and ball must touch the floor for a count.
3) Forward Lunges - a step forward so that there is a 90 degree bend in the front and back knee, then a return to standing position.  Each step to be counted when returning to standing


4) Skipping - Each turn of the rope with a successful jump is a count

Repsol Push Program - 8 Station Circuit

During convention, I had the opportunity to participate in the Repsol Sports Center Push Program.  It culminated with an 8 station circuit where we performed each exercise for one minute and then rotated through.  The circuit is carried through for two rounds.

 Exercise Ball Hamstring Lifts






 Incline Push Ups

 Abdominal Sliders (army crawl dragging your feet)

Thermopylae Games - Crossing Park School - March 21 from 4:00 - 6:00pm

The first Thermopylae Games of 2017, second of the season, will be hosted at Crossing Park School on Tuesday, March 21 from 4:00 - 6:00pm.


Crossing Park is located at 500 Martindale Blvd NW, Calgary


Ensure that your student has completed, and handed in, their A of R Form and has shared the letter with you for this event and upcoming events.


Students should wear comfortable clothing, bring indoor or clean footwear, be prepared to be active and have a snack and plenty of water.


All Thermopylae Team Members will be on site but will also be competing with their students.  If you have any questions at the location, please find one of the coaching staff to assist you.
